We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout East Gippsland and pay our respects to them, their Culture and their Elders past, present and future.
The Aboriginal community in East Gippsland is represented by the GunaiKurnai, Bidwell and Ngarigo Monero people.
Aboriginal people have a strong connection to Country in East Gippsland.
Aboriginal people have a legitimate aspiration to participate in the management of the region’s natural resources and this aspiration is acknowledged by natural resource management agencies.
We are currently working with the Traditional Owner groups across our region to develop content that describes the aspirations and priorities of each group. This will form part of the final Regional Catchment Strategy.
